DC Motor Controller with uA741 op amp

uA741 op amp can be used for power amplification and thus be used for driving actuators and motors that requires high power. Here a design of DC motor controller with uA741 op amp is shown. Operational amplifiers like LM741 or LM358 can also be used. The speed and direction of the DC motor can be controlled using potentiometer. This type of DC motors controller can be used as antenna rotator and similar application.

The following is dc motor controller with ua741 op amp circuit diagram.

The circuit is powered using 15V. Dual power supply is used for the uA741 operational amplifier but single supply can also be used see the tutorial How to operate LM741 with single supply or Biasing LM741 for Single Supply with Split Resistor Biasing. The potentiometer RV1 is used to control the dc motor in anti-clockwise direction and the potentiometer RV2 is used to control the dc motor in clockwise direction. The potentiometer RV3 is used for speed control. The uA741 op amp is used as a DC amplifier. This op amp is directly coupled to the power amplifier made using the transistors Q1(2N3904), Q3(2N3904) and Q2(2N3906) and Q3(2N3906).
