After many days I am writing this note. My last work was studying the schematic diagram of dell laptop because I am trying to repair it myself. But to repair the dell laptop, I needed to find where the problem lies. Now there are lots of laptop repair videos on youtube but knowing the laptop circuit diagram is important. I wrote mosfet transistors, buck converter TPS51225RUKR IC, battery charger IC BQ24727, Keyboard Controller(KBC) or I/O controller IC that are used in the laptop. Here I wanted to write a note on 2N7002KDW-GP dual channel MOSFET which is used in dell inspiron laptop.
The 2N7002KDW-GP is a dual N-channel MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) in a SOT-363/SC-88 surface-mount package.
Below is dell laptop schematic which shows where this 2N7002KDW-GP MOSFET is used.As can be seen this mosfet is supplying the main power supply to the rest of the circuit. The PW_CHG_ACOK signal seems to control the mosfet.
Key Features:
Type: Dual N-channel enhancement-mode MOSFET
Package: SOT-363 (small 6-pin package, space-saving)
Voltage & Current Ratings:
Drain-Source Voltage (VDS): 60V
Gate-Source Voltage (VGS): ±20V
Continuous Drain Current (ID): 115mA per MOSFET
On-Resistance (RDS(on)): ~5Ω (typical at VGS = 10V)
Low Power Consumption: Suitable for battery-operated devices.
Applications:
Signal switching
Load switching in low-power circuits
Portable electronics (e.g., smartphones, IoT devices)
Logic level conversion
Why Use a Dual MOSFET?
Saves space compared to two single MOSFETs.
Useful for symmetrical circuits (e.g., bidirectional switches, level shifters).
